Message from Anne Wilshin - reporting concerns

Further to a query raised at a recent training for teaching assistants, please find attached a ‘Concern Incident Reporting Form’. If you have any confidential concerns that you feel may need to be reported to the service’s Safeguarding Officer and you need to take notes, please use the attached form to note your concerns, rather than a notebook. This is so that notes can be securely disposed of once the concern has been reported, as advised by the service’s Safeguarding Officer.

Essential training on Safeguarding

In November over 100 tutors and teaching assistants attended training on safeguarding to include an understanding of Prevent and how to embed British values into the curriculum. Unfortunately a number of staff could not make this training so it is being repeated in Northampton on Wednesday 10th February 6 – 8 pm and at Knuston Hall on Thursday 11th February 6.30 – 8.30 pm. If you did not attend this training first time round you will be contacted next week on your work email to invite you to attend one of these sessions. Please make every effort to attend this important training.
Administrative support at the William Knibb Adult Learning Centre in Kettering

Emily Town will be at William Knibb once a month to put office processes and procedures into place. If you would like to speak to Emily about any of the processes, she will be at William Knibb on the following dates:

Monday 4th April 2016

Monday 2nd May 2016

Information, Advice and Guidance news

On Monday 15th to Thursday 18th February 2016 there will be a 'Careers, Training & Educational Fayre' at the Weston Favell Shopping Centre in Northampton. 

The 'Careers, Training & Educational Fayre' will include both local and national companies promoting their services to the 'theme' and is likely to include the following; Training Provider, Recruitment Consultants, Local College / University, Company Apprenticeships, Fostering & Adoption, Driver Training & Training Services etc. The hours of this shopping centre are Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm.

Our IAG and Progression coordinator, Michelle Chadbon (Shelly), will be on hand at the event throughout Monday 15th to greet our learners. If you would like more information about this or other similar events, or if you have learners who express an interest in attending and would like a friendly face to meet them on Monday 15th, please contact mchadbon@northamptonshire.gov.uk.

SMT update

SMT met this week and reviewed the budget spend up to the end of the autumn term and financial priorities up to July 2016. In addition SMT discussed progress at Kettering Borough Training (KBT), who manage our apprenticeship programme, which is going well.
Out of hours office support for Tutors and Evening Administrators

Please note that the out of hours office number is 01604 365909. This number enables a tutor to seek assistance if there is a problem at their teaching venue when the JDH administration office base is closed.
